We, at Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade, will miss Jean Holman of Moorestown, the guiding light behind the Holman business for more than half a century. Jean Holman passed away on January 20, 2010.

Born in Philadelphia in 1926 as Jesse Jeanne Polk, Jean grew up in Merchantville and graduated in 1944 from Merchantville High School, where she was voted "Class Leader." She attended New Jersey College for Women, and after graduating with a degree in psychology spent two years working for the Campbell Soup Company. In 1950, she married Merchantville classmate Joe Holman. In 1952, the couple moved to their home in Haddonfield, where they lived for the next 56 years. During the early period of her marriage, Jean focused on raising her three children and spent many happy hours exchanging and debating thoughts and ideas with her kids and their friends, and dispensed wisdom which has continued to guide her children to this day.

She also donated many hours volunteering with both the Red Cross' blood bank program and CONTACT Community Helplines. Jean was devoted to a healthy lifestyle constituting vitamins, protein shakes, and exercise. She greatly enjoyed practicing Pilates and continued her Pilates sessions until weeks before her death. After raising her children, Jean attained a master's degree in educational psychology from Temple University and worked for the university as a career counselor. Subsequently, she joined the family business and served as a Special Projects Coordinator for the Human Resources Department. She regularly influenced the company's direction as a member of the Holman Enterprises Executive Committee.

In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by sons Jeff of Barrington and Steve (Georgine) of Dorset, VT; daughter Mindy (Frank Beideman) of Moorestown; two sisters, Helen Peitz of Haddonfield and Elizabeth Soderland of Mt. Laurel. She has four grandsons: Jeffrey and Brett Holman and Brad and Joe Beideman. A memorial service was held in her memory on Friday, January 29th, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, 101 Bridgeboro Road.

This brief biography of her inspiring life is intended to be a fitting tribute to her remarkable persona.

About a year and a half ago, Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade's Service Manager Dave Zane and Parts Manager George Smith were invited to attend a luncheon for the SAMOST Jewish Family & Children's Services that is based in Cherry Hill, NJ. This organization has been providing Social Services for over 65 years in the South Jersey area. At this luncheon, Holman Infiniti was given an opportunity to help the children of this esteemed organization by providing the dealership as a work setting for developmentally challenged children. It has been a rewarding experience to say the least.

Holman Infiniti currently has four students from different schools that come into the dealership and work for 2-3 hours, once or twice a week to gain experience in the working world. The program is voluntary, but these special kids are treated as employees of Holman Infiniti of Maple Shade. They arrive with their "Job Coach", and clock in with a time card. They are given a variety of responsibilities including filing and stocking parts on shelves. The time they spend at the dealership allows them to experience a true work environment. It helps to raise their self-esteem, and gives them tools they can use in the future.

One of the Job Coaches who works with these children at Holman Infiniti is Tina Guarnerri. Tina was formally a physical therapist, but finds being a Job Coach to the children of JFCS much more satisfying. She started with the organization two years ago on a part-time basis, and is now fulltime. "All of these students have special gifts," states Tina. "I appreciate the fact that I can help find what their gift is, and to help them gain independence".

On November 20th, JFCS hosted their annual luncheon. Mindy Holman accepted an award for Holman Enterprises for the contributions made on behalf of Holman Infiniti. George Smith accepted an award on behalf of Holman Infiniti for "Outstanding dedication and support to provide work opportunities that enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities". As George received the award he said, "It is a humbling experience to know what we do with these students has the potential to stay with them for the rest of their lives."

"I Spent the day getting to know the many wonderful volunteers at Kids Alley, as well as working together with different employees from Holman. We painted walls, moved furniture, and organized rooms. Around 2’oclock, we began to prepare snacks for the children that would be arriving for the after school program. I was able to meet and be inspired by the Director of Kids Alley, Vivian Tan. Her compassion for these children leaves one in awe. Vivian has been recognized and awarded for her contributions to the children in Camden. She is their voice when they cannot speak for themselves."
"All in all, it was a fulfilling day. I always look forward to the Day of Caring every year. I plan on doing it for many years to come."
